In this new book, Stewart tells the inspiring story of two of the Gordon Highlanders Territorial Army battalions which saw action in some of the fiercest battles of the Second World War. His personal style, which has proved so popular in his earlier books, provides numerous references to individual heroic actions and a unique insight into the life of these men. There are some humorous tales but he also describes many poignant incidents affecting the soldier’s wider families. The comprehensive Appendix names many of the men involved, together with thumbnail images of some of the men of both battalions.
